BMW 3 Series Review
Synopsis The new version of its 3 Series model launched in India is currently in its sixth generation series. The new 3 Series with both cosmetic and technical changes is believed to be among the best models ever introduced by this prominent German auto manufacturer. BMW 3 Series, a Sedan has 5 versions of diesel models available in India. The series is available in 11 colours, namely, Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Glacier Silver, Havana, Imperial Blue Brilliant Effect, Liquid Blue, Melbourne Red, Mineral Grey, Mineral White, Orion Silver and Sparkling Bronze.

Outer Look
The model possesses mesmeric exterior. The elementary design along-with chrome finishing and character lines throughout give the car a majestic look. Set of enchanting multi-spoke alloy wheels highlights the side profile graciously. At the front facade, the kidney-shaped radiator grille features eleven slats painted in chrome. The rear end is equipped with chrome painted exhaust pipe and an aggressive boot lid featuring the auto maker's moniker embedded neatly at the centre. Bi-xenon headlights and LED DRLs add cherry on the cake for its headlight cluster.

Interior & Features
It is embellished with lavish interiors. The colour scheme compliments the chrome inserts and fine wood works. Seats are outspread offering comfort to the occupants. The dashboard is supplemented with instrument cluster, stylish centre console and air conditioner vents. Besides supporting Bluetooth connectivity, its Connected Drive function is compatible with few other applications and is indispensably one of the most alluring features of the model. The I Drive system of the car, along with an advanced info-system, features a 16.5 cm colour screen. Other salient features set for a convenient and soothing drive include cup holders, rear centre armrest, roller sun blinds, interior mirror with automatic anti-dazzle function and smoker’s package.

BMW 3 Series is offered in both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol trim equipped with 2.0-litre petrol engine has a displacement of 1997 cc. The maximum power produced stands at 245 bhp with a peak torque of 350 Nm. On the other hand, the diesel version also features a 2.0-litre engine with a displacement of 1995 cc, peak power being 184 bhp with a torque output of 380 Nm.

A common rail direct injection is incorporated to its twin turbo oil burner, which returns a respectable mileage. It can return 18 to 19 Kmpl on highway.

Performance and Handling
BMW 3 Series has a strong yet ethereal well-designed structure providing agility and precision in steering the car. Its tubeless tyres are specially crafted to provide a sturdy grip and smooth drive over Indian potholes. The petrol version covers a distance of 14.79 kmpl while the diesel one returns a mileage of 18.8 kmpl. In a sprint of 0 to 100 kmph, the petrol 3 Series takes just 6.1 seconds, further clocking a top speed of 250 kmph; while to achieve the same feat the diesel counterpart takes around 7.6 seconds with a top speed of 235 kmph. The power assisted steering wheel with its tilt adjustment function makes manoeuvring easier for the driver even in busty city traffic.

BMW 3 Series efficiently competes with Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz CLA and Volvo S60. With their stupendous and explicit features, it becomes difficult to ascertain one best from the abovementioned pack.
