The new version of its 3 Series model launched in India is currently in its sixth generation series. The new 3 Series with both cosmetic and technical changes is believed to be among the best models ever introduced by this prominent German auto manufacturer. BMW 3 Series, a Sedan has 5 versions of diesel models available in India. The series is available in 11 colours, namely, Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Glacier Silver, Havana, Imperial Blue Brilliant Effect, Liquid Blue, Melbourne Red, Mineral Grey, Mineral White, Orion Silver and Sparkling Bronze.
The model possesses mesmeric exterior. The elementary design along-with chrome finishing and character lines throughout give the car a majestic look. BMW 3 Series is offered in both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol trim equipped with 2.0-litre petrol engine has a displacement of 1997 cc. The maximum power produced stands at 245 bhp with a peak torque of 350 Nm. On the other hand, the diesel version also features a 2.0-litre engine with a displacement of 1995 cc, peak power being 184 bhp with a torque output of 380 Nm.
A common rail direct injection is incorporated to its twin turbo oil burner, which returns a respectable mileage. It can return 18 to 19 Kmpl on highway.
Performance and Handling
BMW 3 Series has a strong yet ethereal well-designed structure providing agility and precision in steering the car. Its tubeless tyres are specially crafted to provide a sturdy grip and smooth drive over Indian potholes. The petrol version covers a distance of 14.79 kmpl while the diesel one returns a mileage of 18.8 kmpl. In a sprint of 0 to 100 kmph, the petrol 3 Series takes just 6.1 seconds, further clocking a top speed of 250 kmph; while to achieve the same feat the diesel counterpart takes around 7.6 seconds with a top speed of 235 kmph. The power assisted steering wheel with its tilt adjustment function makes manoeuvring easier for the driver even in busty city traffic.
