Chevrolet Sail has 8 variants available in India in the form of 4 Petrol and 4 Diesel cars. It is available in 6 colors, namely, Caviar Black, Linen Beige, Sand Drift Grey, Summit White, Switch Blade Silver, and Velvet Red. Replacing the Aveo, the Chevrolet Sail was launched in 2013 in India. The General Motors updated the model in 2014 with minor exterior and interior changes.
Despite few changes, the new model resembles its predecessor. At the front, it attributes modified headlamps, new alloy wheels and a chromed fog lamp. The rear profile features rear and boot lip with a chromed strip and revised tail lamp.
INTERIOR & FEATURES
New black and beige dashboard, chrome surrounded gear knob and AC vents, 2-DIN audio system and a new leather-wrapped steering with black finishing has given a pristine look to the sedan. Most Chevrolet car models are known for their interior comfort and features, and the Sail is no different.
The new model runs on the same engine options - 1.2-petrol and a 1.3-litre diesel. The 1.3-litre, smartech diesel engine with common rail engine delivers a maximum power of 76.9bhp at 4000rpm with a peak torque of 205Nm at 1750rpm. The 1.2-litre, smartech petrol engine, on the other hand, delivers a maximum power of 84.8bhp at 6000rpm, while yielding a peak torque of 113Nm at 5000rpm. Both the variants are mated with a 5-speed manual transmission.
A fuel efficiency of 22.1 kmpl is given by the 1248 cc diesel variant, while the Petrol model offers a mileage of 18.2 kmpl, respectively.
PERFORMANCE AND HANDLING
The diesel engine is more economic and outgoing than the petrol version. The power delivery is continuous and gets robust after 2000rpm. The gear ratios are gratifying for city driving. Though most fun-to-drive, the sedan has some body rolls at the corners. The petrol version can attain 0-100kmph in 12.9 seconds, while the diesel variant takes 11.9 seconds. The ride is easygoing and relaxed, due to the agile suspension with linear dampers. The handling and drivability are profound.
Its rivals are Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Ford Figo Aspire and Tata Indigo eCS. +Read Further
