Ford Figo, a Hatchback, with its 7 Petrol cars and 6 Diesel cars has 13 versions available in India. It features in 7 colours, namely, Deep Impact Blue, Ingot Silver, Oxford White, Ruby Red, Smoke Grey, Sparkling Gold and Tuxedo Black. The new-generation Figo is advanced with an innovative design, additional features, and a new engine line-up in order to retrieve its lost position. Though having similar components and features of Figo Aspire, the new model is more voguish than the previous. Produced at the Ford India’s Sanand, Gujarat facility, it is available in six trim levels – Ambiente, Base, Trend, Trend Plus, Titanium, Titanium Automatic and Titanium Plus.
It has been imparted with same elementary designs of Figo Aspire with innovated contemporary looks. It is equipped with an Aston Martin-inspired front grille, grandiose sweptback headlights; underlining body toned bumper and puissant fog lamps on the front end. The side profile glimmers with a pair of alloy wheels; with taller and longer dimensions. The rear end is revised with a raked windshield, bold line connecting taillight enclosure and mutated bumper. The new Ford Figo hatchback is available with choice of six exterior paint options – Orange, White, Black, Red, Grey and Blue.
Interior & Features
The interiors are glossy black thriving an imperial feeling. Black-coloured steering wheel and seats, door panels, centre console, silver accents on door armrests and chromed AC vents elevates its robust appearance. Other prominent features include 4.2-inch SYNC 2.0 multimedia infotainment system, automatic climate control, multi-function steering wheel, etc. Headroom and legroom are increased for better interior comfort.
It comprises of a new engine line-up - a 1.2-litre Ti-VCT petrol, and a 1.5-litre Ti-VCT petrol and a 1.5-litre TDCi diesel. The 1.2 Ti-VCT petrol and 1.5 TDCi diesel mills with a five-speed manual transmission deliver 88bhp with 112Nm and 99bhp with 215Nm respectively. Whereas, the 1.5-litre Ti-VCT with a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox offers 110bhp and 135Nm of torque.
The 1495 cc Diesel - powered variant delivers a fuel economy of 25.83 kmpl, while the Petrol variant offers a mileage of 18.16 kmpl with Manual Transmission and 17 kmpl with Automatic Transmission, respectively.
Performance and Handling
The new engine line-up is more omnipotent and proficient than the old one. The 1.2-litre petrol engine is reconciled for better performance and fuel efficiency offering formidable low-end performance and drivability. Other two engines – 1.5-litre Ti-VCT petrol and 1.5-litre TDCi diesel – are also highly precise and punctilious and return impressive fuel efficiency. The lighter clutch and tranquil transmission cater to its easy handling and wieldy performance.
The 2015 Ford Figo hatchback faces a stiff competition from Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Hyundai Grand i10, Chevrolet Beat, Honda Brio and some similar models in the segment.
