Honda City Review
SYNOPSIS City is well elegant sedan with 16 versions available in India to cater to their demands. It has 9 petrol cars while the remaining 7 are diesel cars. Honda city comes in 6 alluring colours namely, Alabaster Silver Metallic, Carnelian Red Pearl, Golden Brown Metallic, Orchid White Pearl, Taffeta White, and Urban Titanium Metallic. Honda city entered the sedan market in 1998 and has always been appreciated for its premium design, interior, comfort and drivability. It is one of the top-selling Honda cars in India. The company introduced the fourth-generation of the sedan, in 2014, with noteworthy exterior and interior updates along with a new diesel engine option.

OUTER LOOK

Its overall height is increased by 10mm, while rest of the dimensions remains same as the previous city. Based on Honda’s new “Exciting H-Design” philosophy, the sedan looks refreshing and more premium than its predecessor. The new Honda city sports a new grille and modified headlights on the front end and even flaunts its prominent curves and new planes in case of its rear view however the rear view is completely different from the previous model.

INTERIOR & FEATURE

Interior is expressively upgraded with new features and rich design. The glossy piano black trim and silver chrome across the dash adds a royal and premium touch. It comes with numerous comfort-enhancing features such as large and easy to read instrument panel, 5-inches LCD display screen for the audio system, touch screen panel for the AC and many more.

ENGINE

Petrol and diesel engine are two available engine options in India. The petrol trims are powered with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder SOHC i-VTEC engine which produces maximum power of 119PS at 6600rpm with a peak torque of 145Nm at 4600rpm. Whereas, the diesel variants are equipped with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder DOHC i-DTECH engine that develops a maximum power output of 100PS at 3600rpm with a torque of 200Nm at 1750rpm. A 5-speed manual along with a CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission) gearbox is available with petrol trims, whereas the diesel trims are offered with a 6-speed manual transmission.

MILEAGE
The 1498 cc Diesel - powered variant   offers a mileage of  26 kmpl , while the Petrol variant delivers a fuel economy of 17.8 kmpl with Manual Transmission and 18 kmpl with Automatic Transmission , respectively.

PERFORMANCE AND HANDLING
Both the power trains are powerful and also produce linear performance. Though the gear shifting is smooth, and clutch is light however petrol engine isn’t rev-happy and diesel mill is also too noisy. Yet the ride and handling is balanced by its 24% more rigid body-built and flexible suspension though the small width tyres affect its handling. Moreover, at high revs both engines get very noisy.

RIVALRY

The Hyundai Verna gives tough competition to Honda city. But there is cut throat completion in this segment. Ford fiesta, VW Vento, Skoda Rapid, Nissan sunny, Renault scala, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is competing each other.
