Jaguar XF, a Sedan has 5 versions available in India: 1 Petrol car and 4 Diesel ones. It is out on roads in 6 vibrant colours, namely, British Racing Green, Indigo, Indigo Blue, Stratus Grey, Ultimate Black and Vapour Grey. Jaguar XF was introduced in 2008 and got a receptive acknowledgment in India. The car was relaunched in 2011 with major changes in its exteriors and interiors. The current generation Jaguar XF features lavish interiors and innovative technologies to lure its target audience. With its launch, the British manufacturer has participated in the section of German trio - Mercedes-Benz, Audi and BMW.
Its exterior makes is an eye-candy. The front facade is face lifted, hence, making it more appealing. The headlamps are now sleek with new and distinctive LED lighting strips, which set the car apart from its erstwhile model. The front grille is also stretched more and the front bumper is overhauled to match with the new styling. The rear end witnesses change in design of taillight cluster using LED technology while its side profile is complemented with 18-inch alloy wheels and curvy lines throughout its surface.
Interior & Features
The interiors are offered with revamped seats, renovated steering wheel and new colour scheme. Along with a splendour design, the car facilitates a number of ingenious features like Jaguar Drive Control, Jaguar Drive Selector, Jaguar Sequential Shift and Dynamic Stability Control with Trac DSC mode. Soft Grain leather seats, Phosphor Blue halo illumination and interior mood lighting, seven-inch touch-screen display and Jaguar Smart Key System with Keyless Entry and Start are the key features embedded for elevating comfort. While essential features include cruise control, electric glass sunroof, front & rear parking aid with rear view camera and Jaguar Sound System with 6 CD player.
The model is offered in 3 engine options. Recently, the model came equipped with a 3.0-litre diesel engine e with a displacement of 2993 cc churning out a maximum power of 275 bhp with a maximum torque of 600 Nm. The other diesel engine option consist a 2.2-litre mill, with a displacement of 2179 cc pumping out a maximum power of 188 bhp with peak torque of 450 Nm. The last is petrol version, which has a 2.0-litre engine with a displacement of 1999 cc with highest power and torque figures as 237 bhp and 340 Nm respectively.
The 2993 cc Diesel - powered variant offers a fuel economy of 14.74 kmpl, while a fuel economy of 10.8 kmpl is delivered by the petrol version.
Performance and Handling
It has expeditious speed with an impeccable pick-up and acceleration. The robust 3.0-litre engine is meritorious with a capability to cover a distance of 100 kmph from initial within 6.4 seconds, further clocking a top speed of 250 kmph (limited). On the other hand, the 2.2-litre diesel engine covers 0-100 kmph in 7.9 seconds with a top speed of 250 kmph (Limited).
The saloon segment witnesses Jaguar XF facing tussle with top-end German luxury saloons like BMW 5 Series, Audi A6 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class offering decent substitute for the same. However, all the German models are recently introduced with their updated versions thus British auto-company’s task has been made more difficult.
