Launched in 1947 with model 170V, the E-Class has continued to remain one of the top-selling Mercedes-Benz cars worldwide. The E-Class sedan is locally fabricated at the company's production unit in Chakan, Pune. The modified E-Class sedan was introduced in India in 2014, which sports various exterior and interior changes. New headlights, new grille that accommodates three-pointed star, and new bumper (making it look wider) are added to the car. Option for twin-slat chrome grille with the large three-pointed star in the centre is also available. On sides, the vehicle has evolved sheet metal and multi-spoke alloy wheels. The body lines flow smoothly to the rear, while the tail-lights now get LEDs. The sleeker tail pipes feature new chrome treatment. The 18-inch alloy wheels are attached to the flared wheel arches of the sedan.

The entry-level petrol variant is run by a 2.0-litre unit that is good for 184bhp of power at 5,500rpm and 300Nm of torque at 1200, while the AMG unit gets a 5461cc motor producing 557bhp at 5,500rpm and 720Nm of torque at 1,750rpm. Power is given to the sedan via a seven-speed automatic gearbox. The automobile has is a 2.2-litre turbocharged motor that produces 204bhp of power at 4,200rpm and 500Nm of torque at 1,600rom. PERFORMANCE & HANDLING
The Mercedes-Benz's diesel engine conveys acceptable amount of power and performance in the majority. Power delivery is continuous with little turbo lag. The throttle response is pleasing, and the sedan glides silently. The NVH levels are exceptional, which further enhance the overall driving experience. The Mercedes E-Class offers good handling on corners and sharp turns with the help of direct control suspension. The steering is favourable; at low speeds it is light but gets stiffer on higher revs.
