Tata Safari Storme, is manufactured in 4 variants in India in the form of 4 Diesel cars. It comes in 5 colours, namely, Arctic Silver, Arctic White, Astern Black, Pearl white, and Urban Bronze. Though introduced in a bid to review the falling sales, the overall structure and chassis of the new Safari remains same, but few features like bumper and radiator grille are modified. However, Tata Motors has made no changes in the trim levels of Safari line-up and continues to offer it in four variants namely LX, EX, VX and VX 4WD.
While the structure of the car is identical to the erstwhile model, the design of Safari Storme has received some significant updates. The radiator grille has got refinements, which mirrors the design of Jaguar Land Rover. The moniker of Tata Motors is placed at the centre of this grille. The headlamp cluster gets new projector lights with 'Polly Ellopsoid System', differentiating itself from the earlier version. The air dam at the front bumper also received a new design while all other aspects of the front fascia are same to the outgoing model. The new model sports a body colored outer rear view mirrors while the top-end versions have them in chrome painted. It has features like side claddings, B-pillar styling tape and roof rails. Except for the VX variant, the other two trims feature a set of steel rims with full wheel caps. Its rear portion also exudes stylish look, all thanks to the spoiler. The taillight cluster features halogen-based lamps, including brake lights, turn indicators and courtesy lamps.
INTERIOR & FEATURES
The car sports Java black interior color scheme, highlighted by warm silver accents provided on the dashboard and door handles. The car has enhanced the comfort of passengers by adding some new features. The new Tata Safari Storme has ultrasonic parking sensors and a CONNECTNEXT infotainment screen. Moreover, it has the signature three-spoke steering wheel, which features multi-functional switches for controlling music system and call operations. The new Safari Storme has remote central locking with flip key as a constant feature across all the models.
The car runs on the same 2.2-litre VARICOR diesel engine, which now churns out a maximum power of 148 bhp. The company has incorporated a new 260 mm diameter self adjusting clutch in its new car in order to offer a smooth shift between the gears.
The 2179 cc Diesel model delivers a fuel economy of 14.1 kmpl.
PERFORMANCE AND HANDLING
The car has a powerful braking and suspension mechanism. The front axle sports an independent double wishbone suspension type, including shock absorbers and coil springs, while the rear axle has 5-link type of suspension.
Tata Safari Storme competes against Mahindra Scorpio and Toyota Innova.
